MARIDADI
MARIDADI
The majestic Fig Tree pride male Maridadi. This lion has fascinated me since I met him for the first time. I took this picture while he was with his brother Kaka, resting in the shade. I lied down in the floor of my vehicle and while he looked at me that way I press the shooter of my camera. I took this picture in Masai Mara, Kenya in November 2020, in a lifechanging safari. I photographed him several occasions later, but never this powerful glance in our first encounter. Unfortunately Maridadi hasn’t been seen since November 2021; I’ve been told different versions, one speaks about poison, the other one about a territory fight.
I have honored him at my home with a picture 2,20 meters high. It’s like him: powerful.
